Why I Chose These Fabrics: Designed for Your Senses and the Planet
When I started this brand, I made a promise to myself: I wouldn’t just sell a “basic” black t-shirt or hoodie. I wanted to find pieces that actually felt better, lasted longer, and respected the person wearing them.
As a one-person brand, I’ve done the research to source materials that meet two very high standards: they must be sensory-friendly for the skin, and they must be ethically made for the environment.
Here is the truth behind the garments I’ve chosen for you.
A Sensory-First Approach
I know that for many people, especially the neurodivergent community, the wrong fabric can be a nightmare. A scratchy seam or a prickly fibre can ruin your whole day. That’s why I was incredibly picky when selecting these items:
Ringspun & Semi-Combed Cotton: The tees I’ve sourced are 180gsm, 100% semi-combed ringspun cotton.
The ringspun process twists the cotton into a fine, smooth rope, physically removing the short, “stabbly” fibres found in cheaper shirts.
The result is a flat, soft surface that doesn’t irritate, and at 180gsm, it’s substantial enough to drape properly on your body without being heavy or restrictive.
The “Peach Finish” Hoodie: The hoodies I use are 330gsm. Heavyweight without being stiff and feature a soft, peached surface. It’s a finishing process that makes the fabric feel like a cloud rather than a rough fleece.
It’s designed to be hypoallergenic and minimises the friction that causes sensory overload.
Thoughtful Details: I selected these specific garments because every detail has been considered for the person wearing them. The tees have a 1x1 ribbed crew neck with topstitch trim that sits smooth, not tight.
Side seams mean they drape properly rather than twisting. Twin needle hem and cuffs mean they hold their shape wash after wash.
The hoodies have a three-panel waffle lined hood, chunky drawcords, ribbed cuffs with thumbholes and a hidden inner pocket inside the main pouch, designed to hold Loop earplugs or a small fidget without taking over your hand space. A small, secure place to keep them safe instead of losing them.
And the labels? The tees have a printed neck label directly on the fabric. Nothing there to feel. Ever.
Certified Safe for Your Skin
It’s not just the texture; it’s what’s in the fabric. The tees are certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, independently tested and verified to be free from harmful chemicals, harsh dyes, and residues that can trigger skin reactions. They’re also compliant with REACH regulations for chemical safety.
When you wear this brand, you aren’t wearing a cocktail of harsh dyes or residues that can trigger reactions. These fabrics are tested to be safe for your skin, day in and day out.
Sustainability is Personal
While I care about how these feel on your body, I also care about their impact on the earth.
I didn’t pick the easiest options; I searched for the ones that align with my values:
Solar-Powered Production: The hoodies are produced in a facility powered by renewable solar energy, significantly cutting down their carbon footprint.
Recycled Materials: The hoodie blend contains 20% recycled polyester—actively repurposing existing material waste while making the garment more durable long-term. That’s not greenwashing; that’s a measurable difference.
Ethical Labour: I only source from manufacturers that are independently audited for fair pay and safe, dignified working conditions. The tees are WRAP certified and independently audited by Amfori BSCI. The hoodie supplier holds SEDEX ethical supply chain certification. They’re verified.
A Tree, Every Order: A tree is planted with every hoodie order through certified reforestation partners. Because it should give something back.
Working Towards Better: When I was researching suppliers, I specifically looked for manufacturers actively working towards ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification. Meaning their environmental impact isn’t just considered, it’s formally measured, reviewed, and improved on annually. That matters to me.
I’m also going to be transparent with you: the tees are made in Bangladesh. I’m telling you that because I think you deserve to know, and because “ethically made” means nothing if I won’t tell you where. The factories are independently audited, not just promised to be ethical, actually verified.
Quality Over Everything
The most sustainable, and sensory-friendly garment is the one you don’t have to replace. Cheap clothes pill, shrink, and become scratchy over time. By selecting heavyweight fabrics and high-density knits, I’m offering “Slow Fashion” pieces that hold their shape and stay soft for years.
The Bottom Line
I don’t want to sell you a garment that causes sensory stress or harms the planet. I’ve done the homework to find the best materials available, I’ve worn the product, so you can just focus on how good it feels to wear them. 🖤
